CALKINS LANE VINEYARD PINOT NOIR Our Calkins Lane Vineyard is a 55-acre, low-altitude site on sedimentary soils which has proven capable of producing very powerful wines.  Over the years, we’ve planted nearly 25 acres of Pinot noir here, with four of the newer clones from Burgundy, plus the old Oregon standbys, Pommard and Wädenswil.

MEDIA REVIEWS

Wine Spectator, Dec. 2008

A smooth, silky wine of finesse and focus, with ripe cherry and boysenberry flavors against a touch of roasted beet on the finish.  Graceful and appealing.  Drink now through 2014.  90 points.

The Wine Advocate, Oct. 2008

The 2006 Pinot noir Calkins Lane Vineyard is dark ruby-colored with a fragrant bouquet of spice box, black cherry, and black raspberry.  It is more structured than the preceding wines and may well evolve for 3-4 years.  Drink it from 2012 to 2020.  91+ points.

Wine & Spirits
, April 2008

This wine's aromas are rich and spicy, leading with gingerbread notes over dark, reticent scents of plum.  Its feel is silky and fine, with sweet plum flavors and mildly gripping tannins to mark the close.  90 points.

S. Tanzer's International Wine Cellar,
May/June 2008
Brilliant red color.  Intensely spicy red berry and cherry aromas are complicated by cured meat and licorice.  Dark berry and cherry pit flavors pick up with succulent herbs with air, along with firm tannins.  Becomes sweeter and livelier on the finish, suggesting that this will be better with some bottle age.  90 points.
